Not Long Enough

As we live
bodies mount
an accumulation
of the dead
who
in our memories
haunt
reside there
as they were and never were
frozen, melting
changing like our times
by repeating
exaggerating
by being better and worse
blessed and cursed
which, always unknown
until the box is opened
collapsing possibilities
into a singular reality
ours
forever and never
in the duality of memory
there is no such thing
as a partiality
all or nothing
as we live
too long
not long enough
leaving one unfulfilled wish
to be just on time
as we die
